Things to Carry

  • Warm Clothing: Ladakh’s high altitude brings cold temperatures, especially in the mornings and evenings. Pack warm layers, including sweaters, jackets, thermals, socks, and gloves.
  • Sun Protection: Ladakh has high UV levels due to its altitude. Carry sunscreen with a high SPF, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and lip balm with SPF to protect yourself from the strong sun.
  • Medications: If you have any specific medications, be sure to carry an ample supply. It’s also advisable to bring a basic first aid kit containing band-aids, pain relievers, and any necessary prescribed medications for altitude sickness.
  • Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is crucial in Ladakh’s dry climate. Carry a reusable water bottle and ensure you drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Snacks: Pack some high-energy snacks like nuts, energy bars, or dry fruits to keep yourself fueled during long journeys or trekking adventures.
  • Cash and Cards: Although there are ATMs and card payment options available in Leh, it’s recommended to carry sufficient cash for emergencies and in case of limited access to ATMs in remote areas.
  • Camera: Capture the stunning landscapes and wildlife of Ladakh by carrying your camera or smartphone with extra batteries and memory cards. Binoculars can also enhance your experience, especially for birdwatching or spotting distant landscapes.
  • Personal Toiletries: Carry your toiletries, including a travel-sized shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and any other personal hygiene products you may require.
